Thank you so much Richard for your clear and insightful definition of the problem. It feels to me that most people see faster broad band access as a 'nice to have' because the field has been somewhat levelled. But with video so fast becoming the most important online tool for winning and engaging audiences, are opportunities in commerce and industry across all sectors spinning out of the regional reach?

If we are concerned about this and we do want to pressure Government, what is the best way to do this?

Enabling technologies will assist us if we can access them. The disparity between major metropolitan and regional bandwidth is capable of marginalising smaller communities in the same way as poor transport systems already do. As centralised developers utilise greater capacity, usage in low bandwidth areas becomes more restrictive and limited. E.g. it is not a viable option to work on cloud-hosted documents, especially using cloud-based software, even with the benefit of 'business broadband'.
While we acknowledge the cost of NBN initiatives, we need to push our governments to improve regional access and quickly. Equal access can bridge our geographic dislocation and create opportunities for greater inclusion, whether educational, social or commercial.
